This introduction in Arabic to Ancient South Arabian inscriptions was another example of Freddie's interest in making the fruits of research available to students in an approachable way. He and his co-authors felt that there was an urgent need for Arab students to be able to study their cultural heritage in their own language, and took this very practical step towards enabling them to do so. This was a pioneering project at a time when hardly any such material was available, and Arab students had to master several European languages before they could study this important part of their history.
