Dear Colleagues
Please find on this website a
booking form
,
provisional programme
and accommodation information for this year's Seminar. If you requested one, an invitation for you to obtain leave from your academic institution and/or to obtain a visa has been sent by post. We are looking forward to a very exciting programme due to your enthusiastic response and are pleased to be organising the Seminar in conjunction with the British Museum exhibition 'Queen of Sheba: Treasures of Ancient Yemen'.
We have reserved different accommodation this year. Dinwiddy House is a modern building located a 20min walk from the British Museum. It features clusters of 7 single bed rooms, each with their own bathroom. The flats are self-catering, with their own kitchen. We will provide breakfast on the first day and there are a number of cafes on the way to the British Museum. We have arranged a special rate of £25 per night, however payment must be made by May 15. Participants who wish to book after this date may contact the halls directly and will be charged £32 per night. Further information on Dinwiddy House, including maps is available at
www.sshl.org.uk
.
We would strongly encourage people to pay for both conference fees and accommodation as soon as possible. Since we will be unable to negotiate refunds on bookings you are strongly advised to take out insurance with your travel agent. Please make sure we have your booking form and payment by 15 May at the latest.
If you are giving a paper this year, please check the programme and complete and return the confirmation slip attached to the letter to the speakers in addition to your booking form and payment. The Committee regrets that conference fees must be paid by all, regardless of whether or not you are giving a paper. The Seminar for Arabian Studies is a non-profit making organization and costs to participants are kept as low as possible. You will notice that this year we have been able to reduce the conference fees for students.
*If you require a letter from us regarding a visa application please contact us as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you in London in July.
Yours sincerely
